Tinka

Tinka is owned by Sally and Tom Forster of Groomsbridge Stud. She came to us in January 2011 for Martin to school on and start competing. She is about 16 hands, 7/8 TB and by Groomsbridge May I.

Tinka has a very ‘bring it on’ attitude and from the outset she cross country schooled like she had been doing it all her life. She progressed from a just backed young horse to her first ODE in only four months in 2011 and continued to impress with good runs at Little Downham and Eridge BE90s in June and an 8th place at Brightling BE90 in July in the most appalling wet conditions.

She finished the season with her debut run at BE100 at South of England finishing 14th and started the 2012 season at BE100 with three double clears, a 10th place at Munstead, and a 9th at South of England. Then two more double clears have followed with a 6th place in the unaffiliated PN at Borde Hill.

They have also dipped their toes in the waters of British Dressage, gaining 72.27% in a Prelim and 70.69% in their first Novice at Hastingwood in the most awful rain, thunder and lightning. She didn’t bat an eyelid!

We are absolutely delighted with her, in very wet conditions she started her 2013 campaign with a 3rd in the BE100 at Tweseldown, finishing on her dressage score. Following a few runs with obvious communication issues between horse and rider she jumped a double clear at Brightling BE100, went on to delight us all by winning her section at Iping BE100, gained a 7th place at Chilham BE100 and jumped really well around her first Novice of the year. What a star!

She spent the winter at home on holiday and came back in 2014 with a double clear at South of England in the BE100, a 3rd at Chilham BE100, another 3rd in the mud at Borde Hill BE100, a 10th in the Novice at Stratford Hills, then she won her Novice section at Firle, and had consistent runs at Goring, South of England and Pulborough Intermediate Novice. She has now qualified for a Novice Regional Final, a CIC* and the Corinthian Cup (Novice Restricted Championships at the Festival of British Eventing, Gatcombe)….

2015 started well with some nice runs and a 9th place at Chilham BE Novice but unfortunately Tinka then had a fall at Keysoe and hurt her neck. This meant that she went home to recuperate and has not evented since. She is a larger than life character and very much missed on the yard.
